all you love goes to your head. Here is an uncharacteristically "happening" mix I made with all that fancy "future music" that the kids like to blog to. It has a really great start. The first four songs really pour out, they just really sprint out the gate and never lose stride, I think they are my most cohesive DJ moment. I lost my .wav files on this one, so I can't fix that skip at the end of "Canyons of Static", but, you know, it's not like it's the climax of a seven-minute build-up or anything. Whatevs. I felt at the time that I made this mix that it signaled a change in focus to much more contemporary and "present" song-choices, but really not even a bit. After this spike in hip-ness, my '09 mixes have sloped to awesome new nadirs of idiosyncracy and introversion. It was like, hey, that was nice and all, but let's never do it again. The audio-edit here, "Three Things" with Chinese school-children yelling and singing, is a great accomplishment and entirely half-assed. The movie audio is played into the song with absolutely no rearranging or editing save for one moment at the end when I skipped ahead a bit: every other moment, from the flute solo falling into key with the song to the teacher calling out over the room at the first big pause, just fell right into place.
